Maine Bankers Association & Higher Education Assistance Foundation Award $13,000 in Scholarships
The Maine Bankers Association and the Higher Education Assistance Foundation (HEAF) recently awarded thirteen, $1,000 scholarships to students majoring in business, finance and information technology at Maine colleges and universities.
HEAF was established over 60 years ago by business leaders from a wide variety of industries including banking, small business, and community organizations. In 1990, HEAF initiated a scholarship program funded by the financial return on the original corpus of funds. The scholarship program is now managed by the Maine Bankers Association.
Colleges receiving HEAF grants this year are: Husson University; five campuses of the Maine Community College System; St. Joseph’s College; University of Maine at Augusta; University of Maine at Farmington; University of Maine Fort Kent; University of Maine at Machias; University of Maine at Orono; and University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Dr. Kaisa Holloway Cripps, assistant professor of business, University of Maine at Fort Kent, has witnessed first-hand the positive impact these scholarships have on her students. “The HEAF program is a valuable part of our academic community here at UMFK. Our partnership with the Maine Bankers Association is always a positive interaction for our campus,” she said. “We’re grateful our business students have access to HEAF scholarship funds and love when we can celebrate their achievements each year,” she added.
Scholarship recipients are: Harley Colford, Eastern Maine Community College; Hannah ONeil, Husson University; Brianna Tripp, Kennebec Valley Community College; Mikayla Van Zant, Saint Joseph’s College; Eric Howard, Southern Maine Community College; Alyson Fecteau and Nicholas Roberge, University of Maine at Augusta; Aric Belanger, University of Maine at Farmington; Megan Blanchette, University of Maine at Fort Kent; Nick Reynolds, University of Maine at Machias; Caitlyn Beaulieu, University of Maine at Orono; Zakkary Tracy, University of Maine at Presque Isle; Harley Sanford, Washington County Community College; Casey Monahan, York County Community College.
