Maine Banks Give!

Recent survey shows Maine banks’ impact on their communities

A recent survey by the Maine Bankers Association reveals the impact banks have on their communities in the Pine Tree State. From nearly 71,000 volunteer hours logged by bank employees, to $14.5 million in charitable donations, from $4.8 billion in loans to businesses to $4.6 billion in residential and commercial real estate loans, banks provide the support and economic fuel that keeps Maine prosperous.

“We take our role in promoting the health of the communities and customers we serve seriously,” said Blaine Boudreau, president and CEO of Partners Bank based in Sanford and chair of the Maine Bankers Association’s board of directors. “For example, employees at my own bank volunteered over 3,000 hours of their own time last year alone to help with various causes, we hold a free shredding event twice a year inviting the community to bring in their confidential documents for free and secure shredding at any Partners Bank branch location, and we’re working on a heating assistance program that we’ll roll out by year end to help people in need with heating fuel for their homes.  This kind of ‘giving  back’ to the communities we serve is mirrored by every bank in the state,” he added.

Maine’s banking industry employs 9000 working men and women across the state. Twenty-nine (29) retail banks operate 443 offices in nearly every community, assisting Maine citizens and businesses with financial decisions that improve the quality of life for everyone. With assets exceeding $41 billion, the Maine banking industry provides the financial fuel that powers the state’s economy.
