The Maine Bankers Association is a financial services industry trade Organization representing the interests of Maine's banking industry, trust companies, and financial service providers. Maine Bankers Association exists to advocate for the industry, to facilitate communication amongst its membership, and to provide educational, training and regulatory services.
The Maine Bankers Association maintains an active role in communicating with Maine Legislators, the Governor and his Administration and Maine's congressional delegation. The Association also discusses issues of interest or concern with regulatory authorities and governmental agencies such as the Bureau of Banking, FDIC, Office of Thrift Supervision, Federal Reserve Bank and Office of the Controller of the Currency, the Governor's office, Secretary of State, Department of Economic and Community Development, Bureau of Insurance and State Treasurer. The Maine Bankers Association participates in the American Bankers Association's State Association Division.
Every year, Maine Bankers Association will host or co-host many educational seminars to keep its membership informed of regulatory compliance issues, bank training, and industry initiatives. The Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont Bankers Associations hold a joint convention in June of each year. In October, MBA co-host's the Tri-State CEO & Senior Management Conference with the New Hampshire and Vermont Bankers Associations.
The Maine Bankers Association also administers the Northern New England School of Banking which is held each October at the New England Conference Center at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. This intense four-day school is a stepping stone for bankers to the New England School of Banking, which is held in June at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
The Maine Bankers Association also administers the Independent Bankers Insurance Trust and the for MBA members. This Trust provides employee benefit programs including health and dental insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance. |
