Maine Bankers Hire Government Relations Director

The Maine Bankers Association has hired Josh Steirman as Director of Government Relations. Steirman has served as vice president and senior credit officer at Gorham Savings Bank since 2018. The Maine Bankers Association promotes and protects the interests of its members who operate branch offices and business centers in nearly every community in the state.

Steirman’s previous posts include bank examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and the Massachusetts Division of Banks. He also serves as board chair of the Maine Risk Management Association. Steirman has also been an active member of Maine Bankers’ Legislative Committee.

“Josh’s banking experience is a great asset for us,” said Maine Bankers President Jim Roche. “It will help us articulate the impact policy decisions made at the state and federal level have on bank customers throughout Maine.”

Steirman is a graduate of both law school and business school, holding a Juris Doctor degree and an MBA from the University of Miami. He also serves as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve. Steirman lives in Cumberland Foreside, ME with his wife and three children.

Steirman succeeds Kathy Keneborus who retired from the Maine Bankers Association after a 21-year career with the association.
