For more than 10 years, Stevens Wellspring Group has been assisting some of Maine’s most prestigious employers retain and improve their primary source of profitability – their workforce. Through their EAP, Stevens Wellspring Group offers ranging from helping to eliminate major work force distractions to more esoteric, less imposing issues
WHAT IS EAP? EAP stands for Employee Assistance Program and is a worksite-based program designed to assist employers in addressing productivity issues and “employee clients” in identifying and resolving personal concerns that may affect job performance.
WHAT TYPES OF PROBLEMS CAN AN EAP HELP RESOLVE? An EAP encourages employees and their family members to seek and accept appropriate help for a wide range of issues including alcohol and other drug abuse, emotional and mental health issues, family and marital distress, financial troubles, legal entanglements, poor physical health, vocational and situational stress, and any other personal problems or concerns.
HOW DOES AN EAP WORK? By contacting the EAP, an assessment of the employee or family member’s situation will be made. Short-term counseling will be provided if it seems likely to resolve a situation within the authorized number of visits and/or a referral will be made if deemed necessary. Three office visits or telephonic counseling sessions are provided at NO cost. Since the purpose of EAP is assessment, short-term counseling, and referral; if longer-term counseling is recommended, the counselor will work with the employee or family member to refer to an appropriate counselor within the person’s health insurance provider network.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE? Employees, spouses, and children that are part of the household (even those away at college) are eligible to use the program. Each family member can access the program for up to three visits per incident/issue per year
WHY DOES AN EMPLOYER NEED AN EAP? Studies have shown that 40% of employees have personal issues outside of the workplace that negatively impact job performance. It is estimated that these employees have approximately a 35% loss in productivity. Employers need to maximize the productivity of their employees especially in this economy. An EAP helps employees feel better and allows them to regain their focus on work while at work. A healthier and more productive workforce is better for the bottom line.
Stevens Wellspring Group also offers critical incident stress response. A team is deployed quickly to your workplace to assist employees and even customers in the event of situations including bank robbery, domestic dispute, or suicide attempt. Critical incident response is charged on an hourly basis in addition to the EAP.
